Special Issue: Health and Health Care
Call for Research Papers
Submission Deadline: 26 April 2018
Guest co-editors, Dr. Melissa Thomas and Dr. Rosanna Hess, are inviting manuscripts for a special issue of the Journal of Amish and Plain Anabaptist Studies, slated for Vol. 6 Is. 2. The focus is health and heath care among the Amish and plain Anabaptists. We are particularly looking for articles on health-seeking behaviors, health promotion and disease prevention, medical conditions, culturally competent nursing and medical care, public health, and mental health. Articles that speak to past plain Anabaptist research in light of new data and theoretical/conceptual developments are especially encouraged. Article size may vary from 4,000 to 10,000 words.
The journal focuses on plain Anabaptist groups in these broadly defined traditions: the Swiss Brethren / Mennonites, the Low German / Russian Mennonites, the Hutterites, the Amish, the Brethren / German Baptists, the Apostolic Christians, and the Bruderhof. We spotlight empirical (data-based) and theoretical scholarship rather than philosophical, theological, or compositional.
The submissions will be peer-reviewed and authors will be notified of a decision by 30 June 2018. Publication is slated for late autumn 2018.
Format: Research papers prepared in MS word template with single spaced typed pages should be submitted by email as an attachment. Please include a separate cover page from the main article, which should be anonymous for peer review. Submitted manuscript must not be previously accepted for publication elsewhere.
